TransShip 2022
Project for the transition to hydrogen powered shipping

Maritime Hydrogen Highway
Project looking at the scope to establish a national hydrogen highway network, integrating land, sea and port
O.S. Energy and partners are working to bring a concept network of autonomous vessels transporting green Hydrogen from Offshore Locations to shore based consumers, ultimately presenting a concept design for the proposed Autonomous Network Transport at Sea (ANTS) ships.
ProjectZERO
Research and development project to demonstrate the feasibility of achieving zero emission operations
- Energy efficiency improvements of ship and integrated systems in light of transition from high energy fossil fuels
- Significantly reducing GHG emissions of offshore renewable support activities
- Integration of innovative drive train systems and control strategies for hybrid electric operations
- Advancing development and justification of new rules and regulations relating to the storage, handling and operation of alternative fuels in the maritime industry
- Accelerating supply chain developments, skills and education towards building world leading offshore support vessels in the UK
ReSHIP
Project which is to increase the efficiency of our vessel Fortuna Crane
- Novel hydrogen storage solution in combination with a compact power generator to supply green hydrogen based electricity
- Significant reductions in energy requirements while also allowing reduction in load fluctuations for simplified integration of hydrogen based drive train systems
- Analysis of ship operation and design of a novel tubercle assisted propulsion propeller
- Minimum overall 35% energy saving and to half the hydrogen storage demands regarding space and weight
1MW Demonstrator
1MW Zero Emission Drive Train Demonstrator Project
- Demonstrating a physical model of a clean propulsion system
- Team will use the design of our newbuild that uses an electric-hydrogen hybrid system
- Powered by clean energy with a 10 day range and a 1MW powertrain
